First trip to Hawaii should I do Maui or the big island?
My husband and I are taking our first trip to Hawaii. This year we will go alone, and next year we will bring our children. I have chosen resorts on both of these islands, I would just like to narrow down an island. Swimming, beaches, snorkeling, and dining are all important to us. I would also love to see a waterfall and some beautiful flowers. Thanks in advance!
You can find all of the things that are important to you on either island. I’ve been to both and enjoyed both of them. I would lean more toward Maui for a trip with your children. Quite a bit of the big island has lava rock, sometimes right down to the water’s edge which is difficult to walk on and gives nasty scrapes if they were to trip and fall. There seemed to be more easily accessable sandy beaches on Maui and since the island is smaller, everything you want to see and do is closer.
